Computing
Intent
In our Computing lessons at Bournemouth Park Academy, we aim to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to navigate and thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through a well-structured curriculum, students will develop a strong foundation in computational thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy. By engaging with coding, programming, and the safe use of technology, children will learn to create, evaluate, and apply digital solutions to real-world challenges. Our education aims to inspire creativity and innovation, encouraging students to become confident, competent, and responsible users of technology.
Additionally, we seek to foster a lifelong interest in technology and its applications. By introducing students to the principles of computer science and the ethical considerations surrounding technology use, the curriculum promotes critical thinking and responsible decision-making. Students will gain an understanding of the impact of technology on society and the importance of cybersecurity and data privacy. Ultimately, the goal is to prepare students not only to be active participants in the digital age but also to become future innovators, equipped with the skills and mindset to contribute positively to an evolving technological landscape.
Implementation
Computing is taught for one hour sessions weekly at Bournemouth Park Academy using the Purple Mash Computing Curriculum. Children are able to continue their learning at home using their personal logins, and homework is regularly set using the same system.
