Year 1 Key Dates

Transition from Reception into Year 1

At Bournemouth Park Academy it is a priority that Year 1 pupils have a solid understanding of the transition period from EYFS to Year 1.

Year 1 teachers will ensure that gaps within the EYFS framework and Year 1 knowledge and skills are clearly identified and filled accordingly. The children's knowledge will be extend to enable all pupils, particularly disadvantaged pupils and including pupils with SEND, to improve their personal development and well-being. Year 1 pupils will have access to a broad range of resources linked to the EYFS framework and the seven areas of learning that they will be able to access both inside and outside the classroom.

Additional work

Your children will be sent home today (Wednesday 17th March) with an additional work pack for home learning and an exercise book that this can be completed in if not directly onto the worksheets.

This work provides additional work for the following:

Phonics Screening check resources including last years (2018) test

Reception, Year 1 and Year 1 spelling mats for children to practice spelling common exception words

GPS - Sentences to unscramble and order to include capital letters and full stops

Writing for different purposes - providing pupils the opportunity to independently write ensuring that they are using their Every Time Writing Rules (capital letters, full stops, finger spaces, use of sounds and ensure they have read their work back)

Reading comprehensions

Maths - Addition & Subtraction work

Please note this work can also been viewed under the Homework link on our Year 1 page.

Most importantly please continue to ensure that pupils are read with daily. This ensures that pupils maintain the progress they have made in their reading this year. After sharing a story you could make a list of new words that the children have learnt, write a book review and even write a sequel.
