Week beginning 08.02.21
This week we are going to be learning about two different celebrations.
Chinese New Year will fall on Friday 12th February 2021. Chinese New Year marks the transition between zodiac signs. 2021 is the year of the Ox. In Chinese culture the Ox is a valued animal. This is because of its role in agriculture and being a hardworking animal.
The other celebration we will learn about is Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday). This year pancake day falls on February 16th. Shrove Tuesday is the Christian HolyDay that occurs just before Ash Wednesday which marks the first day of Lent. Shove Tuesday was the last day Christians had to use up their eggs and fats. So pancakes were the ideal recipe to use up all those ingredients.
