LI: To understand and use apostrophes

  1. Read the advice in the PowerPoint. Can you think of any other examples that follow the rules given?
  2. Use a plain, or preferably lined, piece of paper to complete the worksheet provided.
  3. Check your answers using the answers given.
  4. Challenge task – Can you explain how apostrophes have been used in the variety of statements given? 

 

Tuesday

LI: To use direct speech  

  1. Read the advice in the PowerPoint about direct speech, and how to punctuate it correctly in your writing.
  2. Use a plain, or preferably lined, piece of paper to complete the worksheet provided.
  3. Check your answers using the answers given.

 

Wednesday

LI: To use direct speech in my writing

  1. Read through the informative poster and use it to correct the text given by writing it out correctly on a piece of paper or on a whiteboard if you have one. 
  2. Use a plain, or preferably lined, piece of paper to complete the worksheet provided.
  3. Check your answers using the answers given.

 

Thursday

LI: To practise spelling common exception words.

Using the spelling strategies provided, practise your spellings for the week. Remember that we are looking at common exception words now, and therefore many rules that we have learned in our phonics will not work with these words.

 

 

Friday

LI. To spell common exception words correctly

  1. Get an adult at home to test you on this week’s spellings.  
  2. Any words that you do not spell correctly, practise them again by using some of the techniques from yesterday. Can you improve your score a second time?
