Find out what the children know about organising your writing and why it is important. 

Explain, organising your writing helps the reader to understand. Putting your ideas into sections help (planning). When planning our work we can think about our writing in sections.

  • What happens at the beginning? (Introduce the characters)
  • What happens in the middle? (Explanation of a problem or main part of the story)
  • What happens at the end? (The problem is resolved)

 

Read/watch the story 'Little Red Riding Hood' 

 

 

Children to order events of the story. 

Wednesday

 

Recap importance and purpose of organising writing. Discuss the need for a beginning, middle and end. Discuss use of headings and sub-headings - emphasis that the sub-heading must be related to the heading and the content of each sections needs to match the sub-heading. 

 

Find news paper articles and cut them up. Children to match content to headings and sub-headings.

Recap this weeks spellings. Create your own word search using the spellings. Can you use them in sentences? Can you write three sentences for each word?
