Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to focus on mindfulness and well-being.
Discuss with the children things you enjoy to do in your spare time and how you look after yourself. Talk about things that you enjoy, how you feel when your doing them and why you enjoy them. Children to share their ideas and things they enjoy also.
Encourage the children to take turns and listen carefully when you're sharing your ideas - you could always use a teddy as a 'share bear'.
Talk about the things you have enjoyed most about spending time at home and what you've missed the most during lock down.
Remind the children of the conversation yesterday. Children to complete 'looking after yourself' activity sheet. Talk to the children about each activity.
Play mindful soothing music and talk to the children about how it makes you feel and what you think about when listening to the music.
Children to draw a picture when listening to the music to express how it makes them feel. Do this for a range of music tempos and pitches to see how the different sound combinations influence your thoughts and feelings during the music.
Show children pre-fix ‘re’ poster. Explain that the prefix re-, which means “back” or “again,” appears in hundreds of English vocabulary words, for example: reject, regenerate, and revert. You can remember that the prefix re- means “back” via the word return, or turn “back;” to remember that re- means “again” consider rearrange, or arrange “again”.
Play the spelling games and complete the word search.
