Ask the children "What is a conjunction?". Explain that coordinating conjunctions (and, or, but) link words or phrases that are equal. Subordinating conjunctions introduce sub-ordinate clause into a sentence (when, if, that, because). 

 

Work through the PowerPoint until slide 14.

On paper Children to choose subordinating conjunctions to complete sentences on slides 14-17.

Recap subordinating conjunctions. Work through slides 19-21 on the PowerPoint, complete activities on paper. 

 

Wednesday

Re-cap ISAW A WABUB - can the children remember what it stands for?

Re-cap slides 3-6 of subordinating conjunctions PowerPoint. 

Children to write their own sentences containing subordinating conjunctions (use word mat if needed). 

 

Thursday

Re-cap/remind the children of the rules for changing the 'shun' sound - focus on 'tion' for this weeks spellings.

Ask the children to change these words using the spelling rule.
