GPS
Welcome to week 2 your GPS home learning!
We hope you are looking forward to exploring different types of nouns and spelling words with suffixes -ing and -ed this week.
Lesson 1 (Monday):
Ask yourself these questions:
What is a noun? What types of nouns have I heard of before?
Recap what a noun is using Slide 2 on the 'Identifying Different Types of Nouns' PowerPoint'.
Work through PowerPoint, writing down the different types of nouns that you discover.
Create a poster on what you have learnt today to use tomorrow.
Lesson 2 (Tuesday)
Lesson 3 (Wednesday)
Write down what you remember from your GPS so far this week. What have you found easy? What have you found hard?
Work through the quiz and research any answers you did not know in a different coloured pen.
Lesson 4 - Spellings (Thursday)
What is a suffix? Write down anything you know on whiteboards/paper.
Look at the root words shop, marry, race, push. Can you add ‘ing’ and ‘ed’ to these verbs? What needs to change when the suffix is added? Work through a few examples and check your answers using a dictionary.
Now work through the -ed or –ing worksheet. Afterwards, practise your spellings for the week by putting them into sentences.
Lesson 5 - Spellings (Friday) Spelling test! Either test yourself by using look, cover, write, check or ask someone in your household to help you. How many did you spell correctly? Write down your corrections in a different coloured pen. |
If you usually work with an adult (Mrs Townley, Mrs Baker or Miss Brown), use these sheets to help you!
Monday - Read through the PowerPoint and write a bank of nouns in your book. Add to this by looking around the room and writing down nouns that you can see.
Tuesday - Read through your notes from yesterday and revisit what a noun is. Write the nouns from your list yesterday into sentences today.
Wednesday - Complete the identifying different nouns quizzes in books or on paper and mark by asking an adult nicely to help you :).
Thursday - Using the handwriting booklets, find your spellings that you are practising this week and copy them out in your best handwriting. After, put them into sentences.
Friday - Spelling test! Either test yourself by using look, cover, write, check or ask someone in your household to help you. How many did you spell correctly? Write down your corrections in a different coloured pen
