Ask the children what we use headings and subheadings for. Explain that we use headings and subheadings to organise content to guide readers. A heading or sub-heading appear at the beginning of a page or section and briefly describes the content that follows.

Identify that headings are used to introduce a main piece of text (the title at the top of the page or section of a book) and sub-headings are used to break up text into organised sections, they will be related to the heading. Readers can navigate their attention using the headings and subheading.

Look through age appropriate news paper articles and identify the headings and sub-heading.

Re-cap over yesterday's learning - what are headings? What are sub-headings? When do we use them? How do they help the reader?
