Monday - Watch the video of Rapunzel. What can we learn about her? What does she look like? What does she do? Where does she live? What does she want to do? Brainstorm some ideas of adjectives to describe her appearance, personality, hobbies etc. Create a character profile telling the reader all of these details. Can you use 'because/but/and' in any of your sentences?

Tuesday - Read through the story of Rapunzel. (If you have a story, feel free to use it or find alternates, otherwise there is a version here) Retell the story in five sentences starting with each of these words: first, next, then, after, finally. Children in school to act out the story, taking on the roles and personalities of the different characters. Think about the key events in the story.

Wednesday - Read through the newspaper article. Look at the features of a newspaper (headings, picture, headings, written in columns etc) Discuss what the article is about. (Rapunzel gets married). Look through the article and make a list of all the words that are used instead of the word 'said' Make a list of all the adjectives you can find. Look at how the newspaper uses details from the story.

Thursday - Rapunzel and her prince are set to be married. Today we are going to think about what some of the different characters have to say about it. Look at the different characters from the story. What sort of things might they say? Choose one of the characters (or more if you like) and fill in the speech bubbles. Challenge: Can you write a sentence of speech with who said it? eg "She is so lovely!" exclaimed the prince. (In school, children to brainstorm ideas together first)

Friday - Today you are going to write your own newspaper report about Rapunzel. Think of a good heading and including the 5ws. (Who, What, Where, When, Where) Have a look at the example newspaper to give you ideas on what to write. (In school lots of drama around this) Try and use at least one of your examples of speech from yesterdays lesson in your report. Look at the examples of different headings to help you. You can choose one to use or come up with your own.
