The children at school didn't enjoy the non-chronological reports and decided that we would rather create wanted posters for the Iron Man and the Space-bat-angel-dragon this week.

Yesterday we created good versions to help you all at home.

Feel free to change your writing to one of these this week.

This week we are going to be writing a non-chronological report about Mighty Metals.

Monday

Read through the good version of the non-chronological report. What does non-chronological mean?

Pick out any key vocabulary and create a checklist of the key features of a non-chronological report. This will support you in your writing later on in the week.

Tuesday

Recap the features of a non-chronological report and have another read through the good version. Using the storyboard template provided, create a storyboard to plan for your non-chronological report. Draw pictures of what you are going to write in each box and key words/ phrases that you would like to use. Refer to the good version for guidance.

Wednesday

Recap the features of a non-chronological report and have a look at the opening paragraph of the good version. What does the opening paragraph tell us?

Today we are going to be writing the opening paragraph of our non-chronological report, using the good version and our storyboard to help us. Our challenge in this paragraph is to include at least one rhetorical question (a question that cannot be answered) in our writing e.g. "I wonder if people know where metals come from?"

Thursday

Recap the features of a non-chronological report and refresh your memory by reading the good version. Focus on reading the second paragraph - what does this paragraph tell us?

Today we are going to be writing the second paragraph of our non-chronological report, using the good version and our storyboard to help us. Our challenge in this paragraph is to include lots of interesting conjunctions (e.g. but, because, and, also, however, or.)

Friday

Recap the features of a non-chronological report and have another read through the good version. Focus on the third paragraph - what does this paragraph tell us?

Today we are going to be writing the third paragraph of our non-chronological report, using the good version and our storyboard to help us. Our challenge in this paragraph is to use commas correctly.

Extension:

If you really want to challenge yourself, can you write some fun facts about metal at the end of your non-chronological report?
