Read the instructions for 'How to Catch an Alien. Look carefully at the features of instructions such as the title, the equipment, the method, the bossy verbs, and the time conjunctions. This week will be writing our own instructions. Are there any words in this piece of writing that you might want to use in your own instructions? If so write them on the word cards below. Then look at the muddled up instructions below. Can you put them in the correct order?

Today we are going to plan our own instructions for 'How to Catch an Alien.' Re-read instructions for how to catch an alien. What do you have to do here to catch an alien? What other ideas can we come up with? Think about what bait you might use – underpants, food, lights, something that looks like an alien. Think about what you might use to catch it – net, box, hole. Think about where you might hide/wait. Either use the design plan below or create poster to show your plan for how to catch an alien. Don't forget to include key words.
