A grammar week this week to make sure we aren't forgetting those basic skills.
Noun game. Recap on what a noun is and practise finding different nouns.
Collect objects from around your house and create a noun collage/poster/picture
Show your child different words, they decide if it is a noun or not
Adjectives - work your way through the different activities, recapping on what an adjective is and practice finding them in a text.
Activities to choose from:
Draw a picture (of anything you like) - label your picture with lots of good adjectives
Use an online thesaurus to find out different/better words for your adjective (just google thesaurus and type the word you want to use). Create an interesting adjectives poster.
Find adjectives in the books you are reading
Have an adjective race: each find a book you like and see who can find 10 adjectives first.
Practise identifying those verbs.
Use these verbs to make silly sentences:
visited, saw, sprinted, joked, baked
Practice finding the nouns, adjectives and verbs on this online activity.
Write a short story about whatever you choose.
Colour in the adjectives, verbs and nouns in different colours.
Can you use any good words from the week?
Don't forget to draw a picture to illustrate your writing.
